Posting Outlook Calendars to your Web Page
By Debbie Anthony

Would you like to post an activity calendar on your webpage?  Outlook makes it easy.

First of all, you will need to create a calendar for those activities that you want to post on the internet.

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. On the Go menu, click Folder List.
  3. In the Folder List, in the Navigation Pane, right-click the Calendar folder, and then click New Folder.
  4. In the Name box, type a name for the new calendar, such as Homework Calendar.

Post the events on the calendar (make sure that you are in the correct calendar).

Next you will need to save the calendar as a web page.

  1. While you are in the calendar, click File --> Save as Web Page.
  2. Pick a start date and end date.
  3. Select the appropriate Options.
  4. Give the calendar a title (ex:  Homework Calendar).  This is the title that will appear at the top of your calendar.
  5. Choose the saving location:
  • Click on the Browse button
  • Create a new folder (I usually save to the desktop so I can find it quickly.  You might call the folder calendar_folder)
  • Save the calendar to the folder that you just created. Pay attention to what you call the calendar.  Our example will be homework_cal.html

  1. Transfer the entire folder (calendar_folder) up to your ftp server using either CoreFTP or WS_FTP.
  2. In Novus, create a link to the calendar (http://www.amphi.com/~username/calendar_folder/homework_cal.html) on your web page.  Replace ~username with your ftp username.
  3. Check your calendar by typing in the url in your internet browser.  You may receive a message at the top of your browser page regarding Active X controls. Click on the yellow message to allow the blocked content to display.  You should now see your calendar.

You will need to follow these steps whenever you make a change to your calendar.  The Technology Class Schedule provides an example of an Outlook calendar posted on a webpage.
