The fifth meeting of the Student Management System (SMS) search committee met on Wed. Jan. 10th. In previous meetings we had discussed the numerous problems district users are experiencing with our current SMS (SASI) and what our expectations are for a new SMS program that will replace SASI. Patsy Harris is the Chair of the committee and there are 12 committee members from a cross section of the District, including an Elementary Principal, an Elementary Administrative Assistant, a Middle School Assistant Principal, a Middle School Registrar, a High School Counselor, a High School Registrar, a High School Principal, the Director of Student Services, the Director of the Information Technology Department, the Management Information Systems Manager, a Network II Coordinator, and an Administrative Assistant from Wetmore Center. We are half way through the lengthy document which outlines our requirements for  a new SMS, and are in the first stages of putting together the RFP at this point. We expect to submit the RFP to vendors by the end of February. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 24th, and will meet every two weeks until a program is selected and has been approved by the Board. Implementation would be no earlier than January 2008.
