Notes in Outlook
By Debbie Anthony Have
you tried the Notes feature of Outlook? The electronic version
of those little yellow sticky notes that we all love are useful
when you need to jot down a quick note or reminder. They will
stay posted on your computer screen as long as you have Outlook
open.
To create a note in Outlook go to File
à New
à Note
(shortcut:
CTRL+SHIFT+N). Type your information on the
note. Information can be also be dragged into a note from a web
page or an open document. You can move the note by dragging the
blue bar on the top of the note.
If you want to change the default
appearance of new notes, in Outlook go to Tools
à Options. On
the Preference tab, look towards the bottom of the page
and select
Note Options. Here you can change the default color, size
and font of the note.
The
icon on the top left-hand corner of a note allows you to change
the color of the current note. There are also options to save
or print a note, as well as to forward the note to someone via
e-mail.
If you don’t see Notes on your
Outlook navigation bar, drag the blue bar above the Mail icon up.
Notes will be located below Tasks. This is where you can
find your saved notes.
