Exploring the Internet
Academic Objective:
Students will work with a partner to complete this activity.
Students will read and follow the directions to complete this activity.
Students will learn technology vocabulary (icon, cursor, etc).
Technological Objective – Standard 1
Students will use basic keyboard/mouse skills to move around in the Internet.
Students will select and use activites on the computer.
Pre-Requisite Technology Skills:
Use of basic technology (mouse, click, double click, printer).
Be familiar with the keyboard, mouse, and control keys
Starting and exiting the program
Typing in an URL address and searching
Materials:
Computers with Internet access
URL
Activity sheet
Procedures:
Review procedures on how to access the Internet with a specific URL address.
The students will type in the given URL.
The students will search on the Internet to complete the activity sheet.
The students will work with a partner on the activity.
Assessment:
Were the students able to assess and move around in the Internet successfully?
Were the students able to complete each activity on the worksheet?
Teacher will monitor to check if students were working cooperatively.
Plan B:
If the Internet is unable to be access, the students will go to KidPix or the Student Writing Center.
