Fun with Math and Oreos

Objectives

    1. Students will communicate their understanding of the rules and consequences.
    2. Students will use their cooperative skills while sharing the computer and playing the game with another classmate.
    3. Students will use their Math addition and subtraction skills to play the game.
    4. Students will use their listening skills to follow directions and to communicate to their partners.
    1. Students will learn how to use the number keys on the keyboard.
    2. Students will feel more comfortable using the mouse

Internet Lesson for March 19, 1999

  1. Review rules for using the internet and talk about the consequences.
  2. Press space bar to turn on.
  3. Click on Netscape communicator picture.
  4. Click on Fun Brain.
  5. Click on Math Baseball.
  6. Go the to the box that says 2 player and click in the boxes and type in your name in player 1 and type in your partner’s name in player 2. Then click on play ball.
  7. Click on Fastball (add)
  8. A problem comes up. Click in the box and press the correct number key for the answer.
  9. Then click on Swing.
  10. You may decide on the next pitch. Remember we have only learned how to do addition and subtraction.
  11. Be sure to check to see which player goes. Player 2 starts and then keeps going either until he/she makes a mistake or after the third pitch. Then Player 1 gets to play.
  12. You play until the game is over and see who the winner is.
  13. When you are finished playing 2 games raise your hand and I will help you get onto the next site.
  14. Highlight the address box and type in www.oreo.com
  15. Click on Arcade games.
  16. Click on Dunking Madness Game.
  17. Click on Play
  18. Press down on clicker and move mouse to the left until the Oreo man is bent down and is angled and then let go of clicker and see if you can dunk your Oreo. Have fun until the end of class.
