Make-A-Robot – Kid Pix
Objectives
Academic: Student will invent their own robot and produce a picture on Kid Pix.
Arizona Technological State Standards: Students will start up and use the Kid Pix program in order to produce their own robot.
State Tech. Standard 1 Students develop the essential technology skills for using and understanding conventional and current tools, materials and processes
State Tech. Standard 2 Students know how to solve problems by using current technologies to conduct research, analyze solutions and present results.
Pre-requisite Technology Skills The students should have prior knowledge in using Kid Pix.
Materials A computer with Kid Pix access and a printer.
Procedures 1. Teachers and students will discuss information related to the "Life
In the 21st Century" unit (Time for Kids magazine; January 21, 2000 issue, Vol.5,
No.14). 2. Students will start up the Kid Pix program and use various tools to "invent" their own robot that will help make their lives easier. 3. After completing their robots, students will print a copy of their robot. 4. After decorating their robots students can share their inventions in small group.
Assessments Teacher observation and finished products.
