Lesson Title: Typing and Coloring a Landscape Scene
OBJECTIVES
Academic
Language Arts, Standard 4: Viewing and Presenting
- Students will follow icon-based directions sequentially on a worksheet
Science, Standard 4: Life Science
Science, Standard 6: Earth and Space Science
- Students will choose appropriate colors for nature (i.e. trees, sun, water, etc.)
Technological
Standard 1: Technology skills
- Students will select and use learning activities on the computer
- Students will use the keyboard to type letters.
Standard 2: Solving Problems Using Current Technologies
- Students will be familiar with the keyboard, mouse, and control keys.
PRE-REQUISITE TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
- Students should be familiar with basic computer terms, such as: screen, keyboard, mouse, and scrollbar
- Students should be familiar and competent with using the mouse to double-click and click-and-drag
- Students should be able to type single letters on the computer.
MATERIALS
- Computer with Internet Access
- Handouts (see attached) – 1 per 2 students
- Scotch Tape
PROCEDURES
- Teacher turns on computer and student waits for start-up.
- Students tape handout to CPU between partners.
- Students follow the worksheet directions to access and color the desired pictures.
- Students help their buddy first with any questions. If partners are not able to help each other, they should raise their hand and wait for assistance.
ASSESSMENT
By monitoring and observing the students engaged, teacher will determine if students are improving their mouse control skills.
