MATERIALS

PROCEDURES

  1. Prior to the lesson, teacher should pass out the Animal Galleries Worksheet and read through the list of animals. Students will circle those animals in which they are interested.
  2. While in the lab, students are seated in partnerships. The teacher will use the Proxima to identify and model the "back" key function in Netscape, as well as the "print" function.
  3. Later, students will individually access the ZooNet site, using the bookmark.
  4. Once on the site, students are to scroll down the page until they find their circled animals. They are to click on all the pictures available of their animal and use the "back" key to return to the preceding main web page.
  5. After carefully examining the colorful Internet pictures of their selected animals, students are to select their favorite animal picture and print it out.
  6. After it is printed, the student will write the name of the animal next to the picture.
  7. While in partnerships, students are to give each other "hints" about the animal (where it lives, what it looks like, what it eats, etc.) and have their partner guess which animal it may be. The worksheet originally given may be used to point to names.

ASSESSMENT

By collecting the printouts, the teacher may evaluate their ability to print. Listening to team partnerships will allow the instructor to determine if students can give good clues to their partners.
