Research Paper

Objectives:

Academic: To learn how to find safe solar system sites for researching a planet of the student’s choice. Also, we are looking for age appropriate material (3^rd).

Technological: To continue to develop technology skills for using the computer and the Internet.

Pre-Requisite Technology Skills:

Students will need to know how to start the computer, use the mouse, and how to get to Netscape Communicator and follow directions to find the correct sites.

Materials:

Research paper outline with space provided to make notes of really interesting sites, pencils.

Procedures:

Teacher will demonstrate how to access kid-friendly sites from the Keeling Cougar home page. Teacher will instruct students on how to type in keywords to limit their search. Students will then "surf" sites and make notes of two interesting sites that they found.

Assessment:

This may take 2-3 computer classes and students will be assessed on their ability to locate appropriate sites and then print them out. Research papers will reflect the information found.
