Materials

Computers with Internet access
Bookmarks set on each computer for the following URL: http://www.toucansam.kelloggs.ca/
Paper or note cards in order to take notes for research.
Pencil

Procedures

* Prior to doing this lesson you will want to have covered a lot of the material on this web site in class or have read several books to your students about the tropical rain forest.

Have students go to Netscape.
Students will need to find the bookmark for Mrs. Brown.
Students will be taken to Toucan Sam’s Encyclopedia of the Rainforest.
Students will go through several pages of information about the rainforest.
Students will need to take notes for their research papers.

Assessment

The teacher will see the students as they are going through the site. Students’ notes will be collected. All the information gathered will be used in writing a research paper on the rainforest.
