Create a Dot-to-Dot Picture With a Clue
Objectives:
Academic:
Students will be able to follow the teacher's directions, create a dot-to-dot picture, and type in a clue to go
with it.

Pre-Requisite Technology:
Students should be familiar with basic technology skills such as using the mouse, keyboard, technology
vocabulary, and URLs.
Materials:
Computers with Internet access and/or access to the Kid Pix program.
Procedure:
1. Before doing this activity, teach the students how to make a simple clue in a guessing game. Start by giving them clues for classroom objects and having them guess. Then give them a category such as "things at school, farm animals, things in a house", etc. and have them take turns giving clues and guessing.
2. Double click on the Kid Pix icon, then click on Kid Pix on the menu.
3. Click on the paintbrush, which is located along the left side.
4. Scroll along the bottom until you see the box with the numbers and dots in it, then click on it.
5. Hold down the mouse and slowly draw your picture on your blank screen. Click whenever you want a number to appear. Now you have a dot-to-dot picture. 'Me teacher may give the students a category to work within, or they can draw pictures of their own choosing.
6. When your picture is fmished, go back to the left side of the screen and click on the picture of the typewriter with the A on it. Now you can type a clue to go with your picture.
7. Click on a blank area next to your picture and type your clue. You can change the letter size and font along the bottom buttons.
8. Go to file and print your finished work.
9. Have students exchange their dot-to-dot pictures, read the clues, and guess what the picture is. Next have them draw and color the pictures as classwork.
Assessment:
Teacher will monitor and observe the students. Students will create a dot-to-dot picture and type an
accompanying clue, which the teacher can evaluate.
