Make a Holiday Card With a Message
Objectives:
Academic:
Students will be able to follow the teacher's directions to create a holiday card with an
accompanying message.
(R-Fl, R-F2, R-173, R-F7, W-Fl)
Technological:
Standard 1.
Pre-Requisite Technology Skills:
Students should be familiar with basic technology skills such as using the mouse,
keyboard, technology vocabulary, and URLs.
Materials:
1. Computers with Internet access and/or access to the Kid Pix program.
Procedure:
1. Double click on the Kid Pix icon, then click on Kid Pix on the menu.
2. Click on the picture of the stamp that is along the left side of the screen.
3. Click on GOODIES on top of the screen.
4. Click on CELEBRATIONS and then OK.
5. Now you are back on your blank screen. Scroll through the pictures of the stamps at the bottom until you find pictures that you can use for the current holiday.
6. Click on the stamp pictures you want, and then click on the screen. Click wherever you want the pictures to appear.
7. To enlarge the pictures, push the Ctrl and Alt keys to make them medium-sized. Push the Ctrl and Shift keys to make them large.
8. When you are finished decorating your card, you can type in a message. To type in your message, click on the picture of the typewriter with the "A" which is along the left side.
9. Click back on your screen to start typing. You can change the font and the letter size by clicking on the arrows on the bottom.
10. When your card is done, go to FILE and then down to PRINT and click on it.
Assessment:
The teacher will monitor and observe the students. Students will create a holiday card
with an accompanying message to take with
