Gobble It Up and Be Responsible for Your Own Good Nutrition

Objectives
Students will learn the components of the food pyramid, use math skills to plan a shopping trip for healthy snacks, look at the nutritional content of the foods they’ve eaten, and compare their school’s actual lunch menu to other schools across the country. Lesson includes many educational game activities as well.
Technology skills reinforced include mouse practice, click and drag, printing, scrolling and link navigation, using computer Trackstar, internal computer calculator, fluctuating between computer word processing program and internet.

Joystick or other adaptable mouse alternative. Pair non-readers with readers.
Procedures
a. Open the computer Browser by clicking on it two times.
b. Locate the Bookmark for the site. Click on it.
c. Follow instructions on TrackStar.
Assessment
Teacher observation of technological procedures, results of "shopping trip", food choices and group discussion following completion of the site.
