Lesson #2
We Use The Keyboard And Mouse To Operate A Computer
Objectives
Students will become fan-filiar with the function and names of various
keys on the keyboard (return key, shift key, delete key, and space
bar) and mouse (cursor).
Prerequisite Skills
Students must know how to spell their name (or use name card) and
find letter keys.
Materials
Computer lab and chart paper
Procedures
• Teacher will demonstrate the function of each key to be studied
and the mouse.
• On chartpaper the teacher will draw out the location and identify
the keys.
• Teacher will play a little game pointing to the keys and have the
students call out the key name.
• Students will use their new skills to type their name. (Vidpix in
lab)
• Quiz vocabulary daily for a week.
Assessment
Teacher will observe student's ability to use keys as the type out
name over and over.
Standards
Standard I:Readiness (kindergarten)- familiar with keyboard.
