Lesson 1 – Typing names

Objectives

Academic

Students will be able to recognize and name the letters in their names. (Standard 1)

Technological

Students will be able to type their names on the keyboard. (Standard 1)

Pre-Requisite Technology Skills

Students will need to understand the use of the enter key and the shift key and to be able to open/close computer programs.

Materials

Wordprocessing program

Procedures

    1. Students click 2 times on the Word icon on the desktop to open the program.
    2. Students type their names once using appropriate capitalization, then press enter.
    3. Students continue with this until they have typed their name 10 times.
    4. Students raise their hands to indicate they have finished.
    5. The teacher assists with printing the page.
    6. Students close the program.

Assessment

The assessment will be the student product.
