    Have you ever wondered how Tombstone got it's name?  Did you know that the OK Corral gunfight wasn't even in a corral?
You will find these answers and much much more as you Tour through Tombstone and learn about the amazing history of Arizona's most notorious towns.
 

I was in that corral, and I didn't see no fightin'! Find out what really happened!


 
Read through all of the directions before you begin.
1.  Your first step for this activity will require you to open up a Word document.  In order to do this, you need to click here and then print out the instructions.  Click back here for your next instructions.

2. You can take a tour through Tombstone. This site lets you select a number of different links to learn more about Tombstone. Tombstone Tour

3. For this assignment, you need to click on these sites and research.

Find out about how Tombstone was named. Write a paragraph describing what happened on your Word Document that you have minimized on the bottom of your screen. Minimize the document again when you have finished.

4. You can't hear about Tombstone, Arizona without hearing about the famous gunfight at the OK Corral. Research what happened by using the following sites. Get all the facts, and write a summary of what really happened. Type it on the same page as your paragraph about how Tombstone got it's name. Minimize the document or save it to a disk if you don't have time to finish this activity.

5. The last part of this activity is to meet some of the characters of that time in Tombstone. Select one and search and read all you can about that particular person. Then write a short story about Tombstone from that person's perspective. (From their point of view, how did life seem, how did some events change their life?)

  You will be graded on the following:


                              1.  A clearly written paragraph telling how Tombstone was named.
                              2.  A well organized 2-3 paragraph summary telling the events that
                                   happened at the OK Corral and who was involved.
                              3.  A short story told from a character's point of view that has at least
                                   one event that is found from your research that is based on facts, yet
                                   told from the character's perspective.
