You brought home a WHAT?!!!

I know that my mom and dad would have never let me bring a tarantula into the house to VISIT let alone to have as a pet. But, if your parents are into creepy, crawly pets then a tarantula is a pet for you! The information at our third site will tell all you need to know to keep your tarantula healthy and happy.

Your Job

  1. Click on Watch Out! and watch a short movie of a tarantula. You need to click on the symbol in the center of the screen to get the movie.
  2. Now click on I Make A Good Pet. Locate the button at the right that says "Bug Pets", click on it, scroll down, select a tarantula, and read about having a tarantula as a pet.
  3. After reading, use Notepad to gather the four most important things to remember when having a tarantula as a pet. To use Notepad, go to Start on the task bar; scroll up to Accessories; down to Notepad. The Notepad window will appear. To keep Notepad available for use, you can minimize the window by clicking on the minus sign on the right side of the menu bar. When you are ready to use the notepad, click on the button labeled Notepad on the task bar. The Notepad window will again appear.
  4. Print your notes by clicking on File/Print on the Notepad menu bar.
  5. When you have completed your work and are ready to return to this page, click on BACK, located on the menu bar.
  6. When you have finished Activities 1, 2, and 3, check your work. Do you have all the pages you printed: The Tarantula Diagram, notes from the story about Venezuelan Indians and Tarantulas, and your notes telling the four most important things to remember about having a tarantula for a pet? These papers will be used to evaluate your ability to record and print information using technology and your ability to recognize and locate important information.
