Badlands & Buffaloes

Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota boasts dramatic landscape and plentiful wildlife.

Be forewarned!

These animals do not think that humans are dangerous. At dawn they amble through our campsite with a young and frisky calf.

This pair strolls across a park road in the early evening.

The badlands of the park and surrounding area were carved by the Little Missouri River. In this view, the freshly cut bank at center left shows the beginning stage of a process that eventually produces spectacular cliffs like those in the background.
