Ms. Debra Van Sice

I have been teaching at Amphitheater High School for 38 years, so I am committed to this school and our community.  I also have had the privilege of having many former students' brothers, sisters, as well as children -- Wow!!!  It's been an amazing experience.

Defining Moment in Education

My defining moment in education was when I had an terrific World Civilizations Teacher in college; he (Dr. Weeks) really captured my interest.  At that point, I was hooked.  I knew then I wanted to pursue History further.  Needless to say, I wanted to share what I have learned with others and decided what better way to do this than to become a teacher.

Core Educational Beliefs

I like having classes where students are actively involved in their own learning.  Emphasis of my course include challenge and rigor, which is why I love having debates and current event discussions.
