Defining Moment in Education

     I am the proud mother of four adult children. A defining moment for me as an educator occured when my oldest son ran headlong into adolescence. I made several observations of him that captured my attention and interest. As an adolescent, he slowly began to pay attention to how others responded to him. He was exploring beyond the boundaries of our small family huddle. This led him to experiment with behavior such as his sense of humor. I was intrigued. This was the moment and time that I decided to become a middle school teacher. What fascinating human beings middle schoolers are!
