• Elementary Social Studies

We have an important responsibility to instruct students in patriotism, the history of our country and the history of the State of Arizona, the importance of family and community, the geography of our state, the country and the world, the importance of civic duty and the roles of our citizens, and much more.

Our core instructional materials are "Our World" published by Pearson. Our teachers supplement these materials in various ways from teaching the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance to traveling to a one room schoolhouse in Tubac where students experience what school life might have been like during the time of the Arizona pioneers.

The textbook for fourth grade is "The Arizona Story" by the Arizona Historical Society, published by Gibbs Smith.

Teachers are given the flexibility as professionals to provide quality opportunities in the areas of Social Studies with the resources we have in our district, and our State.

All teachers follow the Arizona Standards for Social Studies which can be found at http://www.azed.gov/standards-practices/academic-standards/social-studies-standard/.
