    Linda Lee, Library Assistant (left)

Ms. Linda Lee joined the Amphi Family as a Walker Elementary parent volunteer in 2002. Over the next 13 years, she has served as a kindergarten aide, campus monitor, office clerk, special needs preschool instructional aide, and currently is the library assistant. Ms. Lee has always approached each position with a caring and positive attitude and goes out of her way to get to know each student and his or her family. In her current position, she is constantly looking for ways to improve the library experience. She has developed incentive programs to help motivate students to encourage reading and to return books on time. Last school year, she held a book report contest to encourage students to read and write, in return for the chance to win a Kindle. As a result, she gave away six Kindle readers – one for each grade level. Thanks to Ms. Lee, the library has become the place where all students want to start their day!

Kathy Floyd, Amphitheater Middle School (right)

Ms. Kathy Floyd has spent her entire teaching career (22 years!) in the Amphitheater school district. She is an exemplary collaborator and educator. She creates a positive feeling and tone that makes others feel safe and valued throughout the school. She teaches AVID instructional strategies and takes the initiative to work creatively to solve problems when someone is struggling. She has a constant desire to improve her instructional practice and stays current on new research-based strategies so she can immediately implement them with students. She is passionate about each student’s success – even before they come to Amphi Middle School. She assists the elementary schools by coordinating the math testing and placement of 5th graders who will be attending the school the following year so they are ready to learn. Ms. Floyd, you are the Pride of Amphi!
