This course transitions beginning and young musicians from the elementary ensemble to the advanced ensemble experience. Students practice listening and performance skills through the exposure of sheet music, which features individual sections while performing music as a whole ensemble. At home practice will enhance students’ instrumental abilities and promote the success of the overall ensemble. Structured rehearsals consist of warm-ups, scales, technique, chorales, and repertoire that engage student interest and challenge the students’ abilities. All school assemblies and evening quarterly concerts are required as part of their grade. Families are expected to rent their own instruments at the middle school level. Coronado hosts an instrument rental night at the beginning of every school year. This class is available to the whole school and serves as a prerequisite for Advanced Band. Experience is not necessary.
