• A few last items . . .

Regarding grades, remember that that all optional work has been applied and all grades have been automatically rounded up to the nearest whole number. The final grade has been submitted.

I was very impressed by many of the COVID-19 Quarantine Essays; I really enjoyed the pictures too.

You should write down your log-in information for turnitin.com, CommonLIt and Khan Academy; some teachers may continue to use these web resources from now on.

English binders/notebooks -- please stop by my classroom within the first week when the school re-opens in the Fall to collect these.  After that first week, I'll be discarding them.

    And finally --

The end of the 2019-20 academic year has finally arrived.

This is not the way I envisioned parting ways at the end of this semester; in fact, no one imagined back in August or at the beginning of January that we would spend the last quarter of the year interacting virtually.

Although this situation was forced upon all of us, and in many ways it was frustrating since the switch came without clearly defined procedures or expectations, and it came without much preparation it has been a very unique experience.

For many of you, staying home and completing coursework online was a “dream come true.” For others, this situation was frustrating and disheartening.  No matter which perspective you had, many of you stepped into the situation and excelled. Some of you “stayed the course” without much variation. And some of you may have faltered a bit.

So many things that you may have been looking forward to -- Prom, Graduation, athletics, band, choir, etc. – were taken away. Unfortunately, these are things that cannot be recovered; however, in the end, you made it through.

As you move forward through the next steps in life, you should do so with the knowledge that you can meet the challenges put in front of you, no matter what that challenge is.

Thank you for being a student of mine this past year; classes would not have been the same without you.  As with all things in life, we had our ups-and-downs. Serious times. Silly times. And all the times in between.  We may not all have the same perspective, perception, and experiences with regards to the situation, but we are all in the same boat of humanity just trying to be the best versions of ourselves each and every day.

I hope that you stop by next year to say "Hi!" I'd love to see your face in person.

Use your powers for good, not evil.

Be well. Be kind. Be awesome.
