Officer Greg Chmara
“Officer Greg” is a Tucson native who is married to his wife Wendy and has two adult children (Adam and Andrew). He worked as a firefighter/paramedic for 22 years prior to joining Oro Valley Police Department as a police officer in 2017. During his final years with the fire department, he also worked with the SWAT team as a tactical paramedic providing medical care on high risk law enforcement operations. He is still a certified paramedic and has been assigned to the patrol division since joining the Oro Valley Police Department. He serves as a mentor for the department’s cadet program and a peer support member. He has served as an adult leader in The Boy Scouts of America, completing Wood Badge leadership training. As a youth, he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. He is active in his church community and as a young adult served a 2 year mission for his church in northern Italy. He has a passion for education and was an Asst. EMS Training Director for Pima Community College. That position allowed him to serve in a classroom environment coordinating and instructing multiple EMT and Paramedic courses. He has an associate’s degree in paramedicine from Pima Community College where he was also awarded a lifetime faculty teaching award.
