Mark Hodge is currently in his 28th year of teaching and serves as the Director of Bands and Fine Arts Department Leader at Ironwood Ridge High School since 2001. Prior to his appointment to this Amphitheater School, he was the band director at Barry Goldwater High School for seven years.
Ensembles under his direction have amassed an enviable record of excellence in the areas of concert, marching and jazz including numerous state, regional and national recognition. The Ironwood Ridge Bands have received consistent Superior and Excellent ratings in concert and marching activities. The Ironwood Ridge Marching Band has appeared as a 2016 Holiday Bowl participant, a 2014 Arizona representative to the Fiesta Bowl Parade and in 2009 and in 2015 the band represented Arizona and the USS Arizona in the Waikiki Holiday Parade and events commemorating the 74th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in 1994. He is also a United States Air Force Veteran and served from 1986 to 1994, and was Honorably Discharge.
Mr. Hodge was recognized as a Deer Valley Unified School District “Teacher of the Year” for 2001 and again in the Amphitheater School District in 2006.
Mr. Hodge is also actively involved in state and national level music associations. He completed 2 terms as the Vice President of High School Activities of the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association and has also served as State Festival Coordinator and AMEA Band Chair for the South Central Region. Mr. Hodge is currently the Vice President for the Arizona Marching Band Association.
Mr. Hodge is thrilled to serve at Ironwood Ridge and looks forward to continue his tenure here as a Band Director.
