Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Anna Ames
I discovered early on in life that I wanted to become a teacher. Once I began playing flute in my middle school band, my passion for music became quite evident. While still in high school, I started teaching private lessons and this led to my decision to study music education in college. I graduated from the University of Georgia and was active in the marching band, symphonic bands, flute choirs, and woodwind quintets. I have over twenty years of combined teaching experience in Georgia, Virginia, and Arizona. I have taught band and/or general music at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Bands under my direction have received many superior ratings at state band festivals.
I am excited to share my love of music with the students of Donaldson Elementary. I believe that students should appreciate many aspects of music and I regularly incorporate singing, instrumental playing, dancing, listening, and composing in the music lessons. Not only do I want my students to be literate in music reading when they leave Donaldson, but I also want them to have a greater appreciation and understanding of the music in the world around them.
