Mrs. Sara Foulk

Welcome

I am the Speech Language Pathologist at Mesa Verde Elementary School.  It is my pleasure to work with students in grades kindergarten through fifth.  This is my fourth year at Mesa Verde.  I feel very fortunate to work with such a fine team of professionals here at Mesa Verde.

Defining Moment in Education

There have been many defining moments for me over the years.  They all involve students making the connection between what we are doing in therapy and how it applies to their lives.  Helping students become clear, confident communicators is very rewarding.

Core Beliefs

I believe that each student is an individual, with varying strengths and areas for growth.  In therapy I individualize the program and modify along the way to promote the most growth in the least time away from the general education classroom setting.

Prior Experience

This is my 30th year in Amphitheater.  I started my career here at Keeling Elementary.  I have worked at Rillito Center, Prince Elementary and also at Donaldson Elementary.  My years at Prince and part of my years at Donaldson were spent in the Special Education Preschool program.   Prior to working in Amphitheater I worked for Marana Public Schools.  I also worked at United Cerebral Palsy in St. Louis, Missouri.  While in Amphitheater I have had the privilege of supervising Graduate Interns from the Masters Degree program at the University of Arizona.

"Why I choose Mesa Verde"

Mesa Verde is actually  my "home" school.  My children attended Mesa Verde and then Cross, CDO and the UA.  When the position for a Speech Language Pathologist opened up at Mesa Verde four years ago I jumped on the chance to work with such a fabulous group of people.  They have welcomed me and supported my ideas for changing the way therapy is approached here, from continuing and expanding the 5-Minute Kids program to allowing me to have group sessions within their classrooms.  While I have a speech room, I am seldom there.  I can be found around the campus, taking therapy to the areas the kids live their days.  The staff here has allowed me to provide the therapy necessary in creative ways.  I am so happy here at Mesa Verde and hope to continue here for years to come.
