    2019 Summer Basketball Information



    CDO Boy’s Basketball 2018-2019

    Reminder: Basketball Try-outs for the upcoming season start Monday October 29 afterschool in the Williams Gymnasium. Please bring basketball shoes, and wear appropriate athletic shirt and shorts. Try outs will run Monday through Thursday each day after school from 3:35 pm to 5:30 pm. The results from try outs will be posted for all three levels Freshmen, Junior Varsity, and Varsity, in the gymnasium on Friday morning at 7:30 am. First official practice will be Friday afterschool. ** You must have an up to date Amphi school district physical form on file for this school year to try out**

    Head Varsity Boy’s Coach : Jason Apodaca

    Coach Apodaca Coach Apodaca is entering his 1st season at Canyon del Oro High school. He has been coaching basketball for over 15 years. He has won three state basketball championships, 2001 with Desert Christian High School, 2008 and 2009 with St. Gregory College Prep High School. The last five years he has served as an assistant coach for the Pima College Men's Basketball team. Last season Pima college made it to the Division 2 National Championship in Illinois coming up 8 points short, national runners up and the best basketball season and record in Pima College history.

    Coach Apodaca is a Tucson native and graduated from Salpointe High School in 1997. He played varsity basketball and varsity football. He walked on at the line backer position for the University of Arizona football team in the 1997-98 season. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in 2006. Currently he is pursuing his Master's Degree Of Education in Coaching from Ohio University. He will finish July 2019. 

    Coach Apodaca is very excited to be a part of the Dorado family and is very excited to teach Physical Education and coach basketball. He is dedicated to being a great teacher and resource on campus and helping the basketball program return to being perennial state contender. Go Dorados!!!!
