Social Studies
We have an important responsibility to instruct students in patriotism, the history of our country and the State of Arizona, the importance of family and community, the geography of our state, the country and the world, the importance of civic duty and the roles of our citizens, and much more.
Our schools approach these topics in various ways from teaching the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance to traveling to a one room schoolhouse in Tubac where students experience what life might have been like during the time of the Arizona pioneers.
Teachers are given the flexibility as professionals to provide quality opportunities in the areas of Social Studies with the resources we have in our district, and our State. All teachers follow the Arizona Standards for Social Studies which can be found at http://www.azed.gov/standards-practices/academic-standards/social-studies-standard/.
