Mrs. Diana Sewell
Hello and welcome to fourth grade.
I was born, raised and educated in Arizona and I am also a graduate of the University of Arizona. Go Wildcats! I have been a teacher for over 30 years, but I know of no other profession that would make me happier. In spite of my many years of teaching, I have never felt like I was working. I am proud to be a teacher.
One afternoon I was assigned by my high school math teacher to help a student learn the classwork they had missed the day before. After helping this student, I felt proud and accomplished that I was able to explain the lesson to this student and they understood it! This made me realize that I wanted to become a teacher.
Core Educational Belief
I believe that all children are inquisitive and want to learn. It is my job to help them to become life-long learners by encouraging them to see the joys in learning without attaching a letter grade to that knowledge. I want them to "step out of their comfort zone", become curious of their surroundings and seek answers to their questions. I also want them to know that the resources for their answers can be found in books, from people or anywhere in their environment.
Prior Teaching Experience
I have taught fourth , second, combination classes of grades 1 and 2; 4 and 5 and kindergarten. I like knowing that I have fostered the academic growth of very young children to almost pre-teens.
