Ms. Stacey Sherman
Welcome to my art classroom webpage. I am Stacey Sherman and I started teaching art in 2019-2020 school year. I am a mother of two wonderful daughters, 19 and 9. Both of my daughters have attend(ed) Coronado K-8 school. I enjoy exploring different places and discovering something new everyday. When not at school teaching wonderfully creative childern I enjoy traveling, playing softball, and creating special cakes. I have had the pleasure of traveling to China in July 2019. I was able to explore China and teach young students English. It was an amazing exprience.
Defining Moment in Education
One semester I was asked to teach elementary art at Coronado until they could find a highy qualifed teacher to fill the position. A substitute job that I thought would last for a month or two lasted for 5 months. I really loved teaching art to young people. I loved seeing their creative side blossom during this time. The time had come and they had hired a teacher for postion of elementary art. Needless to say I was very sad about my substitute position ending. I then decided I wanted to go back to school to get certification so that I can teach art to young students. I love it.
Core Educational Belief
Many students feel intimidated by art but I like to tell all my students that we are all special and creative in different ways. We need to explore all avenues to figure out what we are successful at and practice along the way. You never know what the road may open you up to.
Prior Experience
I have always enjoyed creating art since I was a young child whether it be fabric, paints, clay or pastry. I have a bachelors degree in Media Arts. I worked at a local TV station for 6 years. (KVOA - Tucson). I substitute taught grades K-8 for 8 years.
