Middle School Office Hours
In order to provide the additional, personalized and individualized attention that many students need to ensure their success, once again this year we will institute teacher office hours. Fashioned after the model that colleges and universities implement, students will benefit from the learned practice. They will see this model again at the high school where conference period is an engrained part of the culture.
Office hours are designed to be a time when students can come to a teacher without an appointment to ask questions, get additional help or turn in/pick up work from absences. Office hours provide a tool for teaching student’s responsibility, accountability and independent learning.
Office hours will occur for each teacher twice per week or more, after school from 3:45 pm- 4:15 pm, during lunch OR a combination of the two. Students will be able to utilize the activity bus if they stay after school for office hours, which will depart at 4:20 pm to both Catalina and Rancho Vistoso. There are no office hours on Tuesday due to Early Out.
Office hours proved to be a successful endeavor in its first year. There is a great deal of excitement for this program as we want it build and blossom. As a parent or guardian, you can support your child’s academic success by encouraging office hours for additional one-on-one or small group tutoring with teachers. Additionally, communicating with teachers regularly and ensuring that your student will attend teacher-assigned office hours is very crucial to the success of the program.
The daily schedule for office hours is here. Remember that students are encouraged to attend office hours with their own teachers, OR another teacher that may be available at that needed time or day. Teachers are available to all students during their office hours.
