4th Grade PIT FIRE

The 4th Grade Pit Fire is an annual event that takes place in the spring following extensive study in Arizona's rich Native American heritage. In partnership with the Art teacher, Mrs. Peterson, each 4th grade student creates a clay pot in the style of the tribes in Arizona.
Then, at the Pit Fire, the pots are fired outdoors in historical fashion with horse and cow dung. While our pots are being fired, the 4th graders participate in Native American crafts, storytelling, and a hike with pottery and ruins. It is a day of historical education and fun!
