Prior Experience

Previous to working at AMS, I was a writing lab specialist at Pima Community College. While at Pima I would assist struggling students with writing research papers and adjusting to collegiate writing demands. In addition, a requirement of my Master's degree program, I student taught at a few different middle and high schools in Tempe, including one here in Tucson.

Defining Moment

Growing up in a rural town, I did not have much of an outlet to nurture my love of reading and writing. I was often labeld the bookworm, and left to read by myself. One year in high school, a teacher saw my interest and introduced me to an array of poetry and novels written by other minority authors and poets. Knowing that other people like me existed, and that they were equally passionate and interested in reading and writing, inspired me. I realized over time I want to give students this same opporutnity; the chance to make a meaningful connection with literature and the writing process.

Why I teach at AMS

I teach at AMS because believe that the students here are full of amazing potential. It excites me to see the how motivated and confident students can be with the help of a supportive enviroment and people.

Hobbies and interest

In my spare time, I  like to read many different types of literature and research articles. I also enjoy spending time with my family and taking the time to share a nice meal with them. When I get the chance, I enjoy going to concerts and bowling with friends.
