I love being part of the kind and supportive Harelson community, and I am honored to be your child's 5th grade teacher! This is going to be an amazing, exciting, and memorable year for your child--filled with lots of learning, growth, and fun!
About Me
I am married with three amazing children of my own. Although I was born in eastern Pennsylvania, I spent the majority of my childhood growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada, where I graduated from the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts High School. I have played the violin since I was ten years old (and a few other instruments along the way), so music is near and dear to my heart. I moved to Tucson over 25 years ago to attend college, and I have enjoyed living here ever since. Last, but most certainly not least, I am a very proud graduate of the University of Arizona! Go Cats!
I am such a big fan of the Amphitheater School District! In past years, my own children have attended Harelson and Walker Elementary as well as Cross Middle School. My youngest daughter and son are currently attending Canyon Del Oro High School. My oldest daughter graduated from CDO High School a little over two years ago, and she is currently attending the University of Arizona. In terms of my own experience, I student taught 1st Grade at Mesa Verde Elementary, officially started my career teaching 5th Grade at Wilson K-8, and since then I have taught both 5th and 6th grade right here at Harelson. I am thrilled to currently be teaching Harelson 5th graders! I have seen so much incredible love and learning in the Amphitheater School District, and as a parent and teacher I am very proud to be part of it.
Core Educational Beliefs
I believe that all students can learn and succeed, even though they all learn best in different ways and with different supports. I believe that children should be supported in developing a growth mindset, and I strive every day to inspire and empower my students to work hard, be proud, and achieve academic success. I have had many incredible teachers who have shown me the joy in learning, and I am so happy that I can pass that love for education on to my students.
