Miss Emily LoVerde
Welcome
Hello! My name is Emily LoVerde and this is my seventh full year of teaching. I taught 3rd grade for five years at Copper Creek and middle school for 1 ½ years before that. Last year I taught a wonderful group of second graders and I am so happy to get to journey with them back up to third grade! I am originally from Illinois but went to college in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I love the warmer winters that Arizona affords and I am still amazed by the Arizona sunsets! I also like trying out new recipes and watching movies, alongside my cat, Moose.
Defining Moment in Education
My desire to be a teacher began in elementary school when I would read to my sister and help her with her homework. While I always like the idea of teaching, I initiallly began in the Speech Pathology program in college. It was not until I got the opportunity to tutor kids at a school in Milwaukee that I made the decision that teaching was the right fit for me. Our tutoring program also taught the students how to do various art projects which I greatly enjoyed. It is this love for helping students succeed and helping them engage in the content they are learning through art that I still use as a foundation for my teaching style in the classroom.
Core Educational Belief
I teach because I believe every child deserves to have someone take the time to make sure that they are not only learning the information being taught but also being shown how they can make a difference in their world with this new learning. I am a firm believer in teamwork and want to make sure children know they can have a positive impact on their world, even from an early age.
Prior Experience
Before coming to Copper Creek, I taught middle school ELA in Milwaukee. I also student taught 4th grade in Milwaukee. I received my BAS in Elementary Education and Literature from Marquette University in Wisconsin.
