Mrs. Tina Cortese
Hi! I am Tina Cortese, the music teacher at Copper Creek. I absolutely love teaching music! Music has always been part of my life and I can’t imagine a world without it.
This is my 4th year at Copper Creek. This school has a community that brings everyone together! It creates a warm and inviting environment that welcomes all of us. I want to add to that community and help each child grow as an individual.
I am married to a wonderful and caring husband for 9 years. We have an energetic and loving son, Ethan, who just turned 5 years old. I love spending time with both of them, whether it’s going to the park, playing “Super Heroes” or Legos, or watching a movie.
Defining Moment in Education
I had a language arts teacher in the sixth grade that let students like me spend some of our lunch or study period in her room, where she would have in-depth conversations on the books that we were reading for class or reading for ourselves. It was then that I started to realize that teachers can encourage learning in everything they do and that class doesn't need to be "in session" either.
Core Educational Belief
I believe that learning happens in all places – home, school, the store, the playground – really anywhere!
I believe that every child is capable of learning. It is my job to have engaging lessons that children want to participate in. I believe that a hands-on approach in music is the most fun and rewarding way to learn. Not only do I teach music, but I also teach other subjects, such as math, language, history, reading, and science.
I believe that a safe, caring, and loving environment is the best place for a child to learn. Creating that community in our school is so important for a child. Parents and teachers are models to our students. It is up to all of us to show them how to be outstanding citizens.
