About Me

I was born in Torreon,Coahuila, Mexico where I lived for 18 years before moving to El Paso, Texas to pursue my college degree in Art Education. After living in Texas for five years I moved to Madison, Wisconsin were I got my Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. My husband and I moved to Arizona two years ago, he is a medical resident at Banner and together we have a 16 month old that is full of energy and curiosity.

Defining moment in education and philosophy

When I was a little girl I would spend countless hours after school in the picture book section of our library and pretend to read books out loud to my "class".  As I grew up I also discovered the power of art and being able to combine both passions has been a true blessing. During my time in college I had my first teaching experience as a TA for UT El Paso, I enjoyed my job so much I became a TA trainer my senior year.

My educational philosophy is tied into one of the most fullfiling jobs I've had in my education career, I taught for two years at a Reggio Emilia preschool and my world changed. I also, had the enormous pleasure to visit the Loris Malaguzzi International Center in Reggio, Italy. Reggio is a student-centered constructivist approach where learning is student led- as teachers we provide opportunities and a rich environment for students to grow and learn with others by doing.

Prior Experience

I have been teaching over 5 years at different grade levels (preschool- high school) and in different settings (charter, private, and public).  I am happy to be at Donaldson and look forward to making it my permanent home.
