Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Devaney has been teaching music in public schools since 1994. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's of Music in Education, and is certified to teach K-12 music, with a choral/general emphasis. She taught elementary general music, grades K-8 in the Chicago area before moving to Tucson in 2006. During that time, she completed her Master's of Music in Education at Northern Illinois University, and achieved National Board Certification in Early and Middle Childhood Music.
Here in Tucson, Mrs. Devaney taught at Donaldson elementary for five years, then taught band and choir in other districts before returning to Amphi in 2018 to teach choir and drama at Wilson K-8 in the middle school. Wilson is a wonderful school community, where students, parents, and teachers are committed to producing quality work, including musical performances. Accomplishments include a successful and memorable experience at Music in the Parks festival in Disneyland with the advanced choirs, and producing Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr. as a school musical, with a lot of student involvement on stage and behind-the-scenes. She looks forward to developing the choir and drama programs, and continuing to work with students of varying interests and abilities to create a 'family' for the kids.
