ASE Master Certified Technician Pima Community College Adjunct Certification 2009 Arizona CTE New Teacher of the Year
This is my first year teaching at Amphi High School, but not my first year at Amhpi. I was born and raised in Tucson and graduated from Amphi in 1976. I am excited to be back home as a Panther!
I was very involved in many activities during my time at AHS. I was part of the first State Championship football team and took third in the nation at the Plymouth Troubleshooting Competition in 1976. Some of my fondest memories of high school are the countless hours I spent in the shop working on cars and practicing for competitions. My high school automotive teacher, Mr. John Edwards, was one of the greatest influences in my life and I am honored to be in the same position he was... to grow the minds of of the future, both in automotive and in life.
I attended classes at the University of Arizona and Pima Community College, but constantly switched my major. Although I never graduated, the wide variety of classes that I took in areas like science, math and engineering helped me to become an ASE Master Certified Technician and obtain management positions throughout my career in the industry.
Before teaching, I worked in the automotive industry for over thirty years and during that time held many different positions. I worked in mom-and-pop shops, large dealerships, and even owned my own mobile auto repair business. Working on cars, writing service, managing shops and running a business allowed me to see all aspects of the industry, and it is my goal to pass this knowledge to my students so that they can be successful in whatever path they travel.
