Resource Teacher

Welcome to Resource! I am Samantha Brunswick and I have been teaching since 2018 here at Holaway. Previously, I have been a special education teaching assistant for 10 years. In my free time, I spend time with my two children, read books, and constantly wish I was at Galaxy’s Edge.

What I am committed to providing Holaway Elementary School students, parents and staff:

I am committed to each student to join them in their journey of learning. I am committed to parents who are so important to work alongside in helping their children grow. I am committed to this wonderful school of Holaway and the outstanding teachers and staff that make a difference in the lives of our students. I will work to the best of my ability and apply the many things I have learned the past ten years from both educational and professional experiences. The opportunity and privilege for me to work alongside the teachers, staff and students of Holaway is something I won’t take lightly. I am committed on adding my part to Holaway and making a difference to the school, community and the lives of my students. I will do this by learning standards, skills and techniques in order to teach effectively and inspire my students for greater things. I believe that I will make a difference to the lives of the students that I teach and they in turn will make a great difference in the lives of those around them.

Defining Moment in Education:

Since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to do something in the field of education. I still remember the day I made that decision. My aunt had asked me to be part of her assignment. She had to video tape herself giving a science lesson to a young school aged child. I remember thinking, “this is her homework?” We had the opportunity to do a fun science experiment together. She had to record herself teaching the lesson and turn it in for a grade. Sign me up. From that day on, I had decided I was going to be a teacher.

Things I enjoy outside of school are:

I enjoy spending time with my family and especially with my children Sihlas and Kenzie. We love to craft, play video games, watch movies, and visit family members together. On my own I love to read and keep busy with knitting or other fun crafty things.

A quote that I live by:

“Education was the flame that lit the world.” – John Purdue
