Ms. Emily Irwin-Stazenski
Hi! I’m Emily Irwin-Stazenski. I’m so excited to be teaching fifth grade at Copper Creek. I’ve been teaching since 2013 and always in fifth grade. I truly think it’s the best! We have a lot of fun in my classroom while also doing a lot of great learning. When I’m not teaching, I like to read, watch TV, go hiking or bake and eat delicious treats. I live with my spouse and our wonderful animals, two cats named Mia and Cooper and our new puppy named Archie.
Defining Moment in Education
My all-time favorite teacher was my high school drama teacher, Mr. Kissel. He was the kind of teacher that absolutely changes lives. I was never the most outgoing student, especially once I got to high school, but Mr. Kissel really knew how to help me grow and shine. I know he had an impact on all his students' lives and it is because he goes that extra mile and invests in his students. It is because of Mr. Kissel that I know the value of finding out what my students' interest are and taking the time to learn about each individual and their needs.
Core Educational Belief
I believe in building a strong classroom community where students feel respected and heard. It is important that students are able to work together in a productive and cohesive manner. The way that that happens is by practicing mutual trust and respect. When we all feel comfortable sharing our thoughts and making mistakes with one another, it makes for a very fun and engaging year!
I started my career in the Vail School District teaching fifth grade. After that, I taught fifth grade for four years in the Marana School District.
