Ms. Maria Langis

Welcome! My name is Maria Langis. This will be my second year teaching Kindergarten at Copper Creek and my 8th year teaching Kindergarten in Arizona. I love Copper Creek! I am a native to Southern California and moved to Tucson in 2013. I lived in Central Tucson and moved to Oro Valley 2 years ago.  I absolutely love it here!  My husband John and I have a beautiful 6 year old boy, 2 dogs, and a Greek restaurant by the UofA.  I look forward to another fun year in Kindergarten!!

Defining Moment in Education:

I was one of those kids that always pretended to be a teacher. My father was a teacher. What led me to love early education was the twist. Seeing and experiencing the inequities in life ignited my interest in human/child development. It became my passion to learn why people do the things they do and how children learn and grow. Fast forward to the end of my college years when I was getting my California teaching credential. I had the most wonderful professor who was kind, understanding, detailed, thorough...all the great things. She taught us in the way we should be teaching our students and she solidified my passion for wanting to be in the classroom.

Core Educational Belief:

I believe that all humans are always learning and growing. However, in the early years their ability to learn and grow is exponential! I believe people (especially young children) learn best by exploring their world through their senses and making real life connections.

Prior Experience:

I taught preschool for 12 years in California (2 year olds, 3 year olds, and Pre-K.) This will be my 8th year teaching Kindergarten.
