Welcome to Holaway!

It is with excitement that I welcome you to Holaway Elementary School.  It is a privilege to serve as your principal at Holaway.  Our Coyote staff continuously work hard to care for, teach and encourage each and every student that walks onto our campus.  The mission of the Holaway Elementary School Community is to provide an exemplary education in a safe, caring environment that inspires academic success through readiness responsibility, respect, and resilience.

Prior to coming to Arizona, I served as a middle school assistant principal in my hometown of Moline, IL.  Prior working in administration I taught 4th, 5th and 6th grade at the elementary and middle school level.  My wife and I have three young boys that keep us very busy.  We enjoy the outdoors and watching sports.  

Defining Moment in Education:

My love for education has been going on since entering kindergarten.  As a student I was given an education that engaged, excited and encouraged me to do my best and pursue my passions.  My elementary school teachers got to know me on an individual basis and understood me beyond my academic capabilities.  Mentors stepped up to help me as I pursued a degree in elementary education, as well as becoming an elementary school teacher.  This mentorship stands out to me as what has defined me and challenged me as an educator.   I hope to provide this same support and mentorship to students and staff here at Holaway.  Thank you to my wife and family for walking through my educational journey with me.

Core Educational Beliefs:

I believe that each student is unique and deserves to be treated as unique.  Students must be given opportunities to discover their talents and passions while given support along the way.  Our students truly are the future and we must never forget this.  The quote below by Sir Ken Robinson sums up my pursuit in education.

“To enable students to understand the world around them and the talents within in the so that they can become fulfilled individuals and active, compassionate citizens.”

Why I am committed to Holaway:

My commitment to Holaway stems from the amazing staff members that serve students each and every day.  As a staff we work to equip each student with the tools and knowledge they need to be successful.  At Holaway we work to teach students not only academic content, but social-emotional, physical well being and overall health.  This is why I love being part of the Coyote family!
