Courtney Gahn

My name is Courtney Gahn. My husband and I moved to Tucson, AZ in June. I am very excited about the 2019-2020 school year because I get to join the Donaldson family. This will be my 6th year teaching and I've taught kindergarten for 5 of those years and I taught first grade for a year. However, after teaching first grade for a year, I realized my true passion is in teaching kindergarten. I did my practicum and student teaching in kindergarten with an amazing mentor teacher. This is where my love for teaching and kindergarten grew immensely.

Kindergarten is a special grade level to teach and a special time in a child's life. It is a crucial year in a child's life because it is a year that is full of foundational skills that will set them up for success in every year that follows. It is also a year of fun times, endless memories and getting to wonder about the world around them as we dive into new and exciting concepts.

Before teaching, I was a swim and dance instructor for kids between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. In college, I was a behavioral therapist intern for the State of Nevada for children with psychological trauma between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. Needless to say, I've always been drawn to working with younger students. Their love for life and learning is an amazing gift that they bring to the world and I am lucky enough to have worked with such a fun age group since my early teen years.

Outside of teaching, I love to hike, exercise, go to the University of Arizona sporting events and shop. My best weekends are when I get to spend time with my two dogs (Pixie and Wilbur) and my husband. We love to hike, go to sporting events and be active together.

I appreciate being apart of such a great school and getting to work with amazing families. Kindergarten at Donaldson is AMAZING!
