Mrs. Lemieux

My name is Laurie Lemieux and I LOVE being part of the Mesa Verde family.  This is my third year at Mesa Verde and I have taught 2nd grade and 1st grade.  I am excited to be an Interventionist this year!  Prior to coming to Mesa Verde, I taught kindergarten for 15  years at Nash Elementary, 2nd grade at Painted Sky, and 6th-8th at Amphi Middle School, all in the Amphi District.  I was born and raised in California, but relocated to Tucson in '98.  I'm married to my high school sweetheart, John, and we have two daughters; Ashley graduated high school at CDO and Michelle from Ironwood Ridge.  I also have two grandsons and a granddaughter on the way, who light up my life.  I love to spend lots of time with my family, read, swim, and attend the theater and concerts. I am so excited to have everyone back in school and am looking forward to a fabulous year helping kids!

Defining Moment in my Education

I loved school from the moment I started kindergarten with Miss Cosgrove.  My 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Thomas, made learning fun and it was back then that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up.  As I got older, I would tutor my younger sister in math and was so happy when it clicked for her.  Later, after having children, I spent a lot of time volunteering in their classrooms, and realized that was my true passion.  I completed my degree in education and began teaching shortly after moving to Tucson.  Now, after teaching many wonderful kids for twenty years, I still love to go to school each day!

Core Educational Belief

I believe that all children can learn and it is my responsibility to help my students succeed.

Prior Experience

I have taught Grades Kindergarten through 8th grade in the Amphitheater School District since 2001, with all but one year in the primary grades.
