Hello!  My name is Jackie Picton and I have been the Middle School Counselor at Wilson K-8  since 2017, but I've been a Wilson parent since 2012.  Go Wranglers!  My primary goal as a school counselor is to advocate for and assist students so that they can be successful academically, emotionally, and behaviorally.  I am also the 504 Plan coordinator and Chronic Health Plan coordinator at Wilson and collaborate with parents and teachers to support students with unique needs.  

At school, you'll usually see me speaking with students during middle school lunch periods.  I also offer in-class lessons on Bullying, Internet Safety, High School registration/requirements (8th grade), and Organizational Skills (6th grade).  Twice a month, I host "Tuesday Trivia" during the lunch periods. I coordinate our annual Red Ribbon Week and have been a part of our Veterans Day committee.  

Before starting at Wilson K-8, I spent time assisting students at Canyon del Oro High School, Marana High School, and Esperero Canyon Middle School.  In addition, I was instrumental in establishing a hospital school at Diamond Children's Hospital and continue to support students with medical needs. 

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my parents, my husband, four children (ages 7-19), and our dog "Duke".  My husband is an officer in the US Marine Corps.  We're a busy family and have been involved with OV Fastpitch Softball, OV Little League, competitive golf, Taekwondo, YMCA basketball, and AYSO soccer.  I've been a scout leader with various Packs, Crews, and Troops and I've taught VBS for many years at our local church.   

When I'm not interacting with my great students at Wilson, you may find me hiking, camping, fishing, or snow skiing.  My parents raised me in the outdoors and it's where I'm still happiest! I've toured most National Parks throughout my lifetime and my favorites are Yosemite, Glacier NP, and Zion.  

One interesting fact about me:  I was an archaeology major in college and participated in many "digs" in Colonial Virigina.  I love history and archaeology!
