Grand Canyon University: Bachelor of Science in Mathematics for Secondary Education Masters in Educational Leadership

Mr. Paul Avila

Welcome students and parents!  This site is designed for students currently in my math classes as well as their parents and guardians.  This year I am teaching RR Geometry, RR Pre-Algebra, and Math Standards III. I am excited to be working with you and to see what the upcoming year has to bring.

Quick Bio

I am a native of Southern Arizona and a CDO alumni. I was a member of the CDO baseball team. After my high school career, I joined Lourdes University on a baseball scholarship. After an arm injury ended my career, I decided to move back home to finish my degree and begin my teaching and coaching career. I am also the assistant golf and softball coach here at CDO.

Defining Moment in Education

My first year of college, I wasn’t too sure about my career path. My counselor recommended that I take an education course. After the first day, I decided on my major and haven’t looked back since.  I also had several people in my life (previous teachers and coaches) who inspired me to become a teacher. It is a never-ending list of the doors they have opened for me, and the moments they have motivated me to bring out my fullest potential in any aspect. I hope to bring the same to the next generation of students.

Core Educational Belief

Every student deserves an effective learning environment that allows them the right of an education and for them to reach their full potential.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” –Nelson Mandela

Prior Experience

I was a substitute teacher for 3 years, doing anywhere from grades K-12.

This is my 3rd year being a full-time teacher at CDO.
