My name is Jemma Sepich, and I am thrilled to be teaching third grade this year! This is my sixth year of teaching and my first year here at Copper Creek. I am originally from Madison, Wisconsin, but went to college in Minneapolis, Minnesota. My fiancé accepted a research position at the University of Arizona, and we are excited to live with a mountain view and warmer weather. I enjoy traveling, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and being active. I’ve heard wonderful things about the Copper Creek family and can’t wait to join this incredible community!
Defining Moment in Education
As a first grader, I didn’t like reading. When my teacher, Mrs. Covarrubias, loaned me the first book in The Boxcar Children series from her personal collection, I was hooked. I became a lifelong reader because of one teacher making the time to find a book that I would love. I hope to inspire the same love of learning in my students.
Core Educational Belief
I believe that a key element of teaching is raising young humans to be the best they can be, while sparking the joy of learning in each child. My role as a teacher is to coach, support, inspire and care for my students so that they thrive socially and academically. Each child is unique and so are their needs; I work like a detective to figure out what I can do to best support their growth.
Before moving to Arizona, I spent the last 5 years teaching in Madison, Wisconsin. I taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade in a Spanish immersion program, teaching in both English and Spanish. I have experience with inclusion classrooms, gifted students, and English language learners.
